Marriage
Marriage is the most amazing priviledge. We get married because of what a person does for us and how they make us feel. We stay married because of what we do for other person and how we make them feel.
We've been married for 10 years and our strategies are simple: Learning to love unconditionally and to deal with personal pride.
With God there is hope for any marriage. You can learn good biblical principles that will lead you to a good marriage and its a good idea to learn these things. However, it's the three stranded cord that cannot be easily broken. Relating to each other with love of the Father, the humility of Jesus and the wisdom, counsel and comfort of the Holy Spirit will not only fulfill the principles but meet the desires of true intimate relationship.
We don't know if we've really found any book or teaching that specifically spoke into our marriage. What we're probably learning is that marriage is like the relationship Jesus has with his body. The greater our realisation of His love for us, the easier our marriage gets. And we spends lots of time with people across generations and marital status who speak into our lives through relationship.
We have really enjoyed A Celebration of Sex by Dr. Douglas Rosenau and you can get it here http://www.amazon.com/Celebration-Sex-Enjoying-Sexual-Intimacy/dp/0785264671. It's not all about sex and is well worth a full reading.
